Rocker Shoes

The Women's Shape-Ups - Fitness Junkie from Sketchers.com (Mine are pinker!)

Ooooh! One more thing! I got rocker shoes! lol Not the super expensive Sketcher's Shape-ups ($110 a pop). My mom and I were looking for trainers that I could walk and work-out in and I just had to at least try these on. I expected to hate them so that I could get over it and be done with it. Unfortunately, I am a kid. And with these shoes, when you stand straight, you can rock back and forth. We also got a really good deal for two pairs; one for her and one for me.

These shoes claim to do everything the Shape-ups say: tone butt and legs, improve posture, improve balance and strength, promote weight loss, etc. All well and good. I'm not a doctor or an analyst so disregard my opinions and seek professionals. This is just what I think of them.
  • Improve posture? Probably. You have to stand proper to avoid falling backwards.
  • Improve balance? Same story. You're walking on a constantly uneven surface.
  • Strength and toning? Meh. We shall see about that. I can see this as being fairly minimal and shouldn't replace actual exercise. Many experts who have written on these shoes agree on that.
  • Promote weight loss? YES! Because you'll feel like a kid and want to rock back and forth in these for hours on end and it feels like walking on a moon-bounce. Oh, wait. That might just be me.
Fun factor 100%! Giggle factor 100%! But worth the money? Sure for me because it's hours of entertainment and silliness. But I wouldn't chose this over working out. And you really should not use these in your workouts. Just walking down a very small hill, I felt a twinge in my foot. These are good for walking, but not running as well. Ergo, in the end I had to get real trainers as well.
