Apologies for such a delay! Finally school is over and I have graduated with an B.A. in English. Here in a couple of weeks I will be headed off for NYC to the NYU Summer Publishing Institute, provided all the loan papers get processed and approved in time. I'm super excited!! I will be studying magazine, digital, and book publishing in a 6 week intensive program. I am leaning more towards books because I've always been a book nerd. I don't really ever read magazines. Even planning the wedding, I look at a magazine for an average of 5 minutes tops. Also, I don't really care for digital reading. I've tried it a few times, but I love the weight of books in my hands. I just don't think I could trade that in for the world.
In the meantime between graduation and NYU, I've been busy sewing and packing up the apartment. I finally broke out the ole (okay brand spanking new) sewing machine. I'm officially addicted to it. I have 4 pillows completed and one in limbo while I await stuffing (which I left at my parent's house). They're inspired by London, where my hubby-to-be is currently. They are not perfect pillows and not from patterns, but I love them.

Random polka dots, obviously no London connection here, just trying to make a set

Work currently in progress. I'm planning on somehow putting the number 159, which was the bus I took more often than any others (to get to my guy) and so has a special meaning to me.
I love your London inspired pillows! Especially the work in progress. Did you use a stencil of some sort?
ReplyDeleteAnd what is this NYU Summer Publishing Institute? I would love to do this. But unlike you, I love magazines. Tell me more!
I did use a stencil! Ok, I cheated. I went on etsy and found someone's wall decal that I liked and transferred it over. It took a while to cut first the stencil and then the piece out, but I'm happy with it. :)
ReplyDeleteThe NYU Summer Publishing Institute is a very intense 6 week program that immerses its students in publishing of all kinds, including magazine heavily. I definitely recommend you check it out! After July, I can give you a more detailed idea of what it is if you'd like. :D
